Subject: Implausible story, too

Pretty much what everyone else wrote, plus the story broke Suspension of Disbelief for me early on. Jack (Norman Neilsen) discovers gold, and rides home to share the good news with his family. Hank (Charles King), a claim jumper, follows and shoots Jack dead in his own home, right in front of his family. Bruce (Bob Steele) runs Hank down, and marches him off to the sheriff's office and jail.

Some of "the boys" bust Hank out of jail for a lynching party. Bruce realizes that Hank is the only one left alive who knows where Jack's claim is, and arrives just in time to stop them from stringing him up. Does he tell these honest and trustworthy friends of Jack that he needs to wring some info out of Hank before they hang him? Nooo... What he does allows Hank to get away, and sets up the rest of the story that follows.

Though I couldn't really get into the story after that, it was still interesting to see where the writers took it. They had enough characters running around and chasing each other back and forth so as to keep it from becoming overly simple, and thus boring. Everyone eventually wound up at the claim site, and then chased each other out into the surrounding desert. The hero gets the girl at the end, as usual. Good thing they ended where they did, though, or they might've had to call this film Lust in the Dust. :D

Some folks just don't know how to grade movies. This would be a low " B " at best. The script and plot was all over the board. The only thing good about it was the scenery. Kids about 10 or 11 might like it.

Subject: I like the name
"The Law Rides", good name, that's why i watched it.
But then it turned out to be Bob Steele so of course it doesn't matter it's all that good of a movie or not.
If you're a Steele fan ya gotta watch.

Subject: Bob Steele Walks Again
This is a slow but interesting Bob Steele western directed by his father, Robert N. Bradbury. It is a very good TV print and good sound. Bob Steele is the stalwart hero as always. Harley Wood couldn't act her way out of a paper bag, so she's barely believeable eye candy here. Charles King is the main villian and gets to show a little more range than usual. Watch him in his close-ups and Steele's. They play off each other quite well, including the fight scenes. The rest of the cast and crew, for the most part, are all pros who can turn out this kind of western with their collective eyes closed. Not a bad, more mediocre than anything else, little western. Worth a patient look.
